Innovation takes leadership

Trying to make innovation a constant daily task for everyone to become involved is certainly a real problem for many organisations.

When organisations are looking for efficiency or effectiveness innovation may seem a ‘nice to have’ as it requires a much looser structure. Innovation is looking to increase variability; nearly everything else in the organisation is the exact opposite. How do we address this resistance and make innovation part of the daily working routines?

We have to open up our thinking to a number of “possible paths” to allow it to flow.

There is a shared responsibility for innovation and this relies on everyone in the organization seeing the benefits of innovation and the space for it that exists. This comes from good leadership.
